We came to a small glade, as welcoming a spot to rest as the path that led us into
the forest welcomed travel.
We drank cool, sweet water from a small spring nearby and I immediately felt both
relieved and weary.
I sat in the sun on a small boulder covered with a moss that at that moment felt
softer than the finest upholstered chair. Kala curled up at my feet and promptly fell
asleep.
The leaves around us were a glossy green that shone brightly with reflected
sunlight, creating what looked like a staircase as they seemed to rise into the
distance.
