The forest was true dark now and we could barely follow the path. Never had I
been more frightened simply by the dark.
I strained me eyes to make out any source of light and only gradually was I
rewarded. A blue glow grew gradually, silhouetting what I could only hope were the
trees and bushes nearby. I tried desperately to quell my rising sense of dread.
Vaguely threatening shapes lurked and I followed the path as it switchbacked right
and left and right.
I could tell that the path had grown. There were more branches fallen under the
canopy and I could make out stars in the breaks now. Kala and I practically ran.
